Each day I will a few tasks and home learning activities on our school website class page to keep your minds sharp and to keep you busy.

** CHANGES TO OUR ONLINE LEARNING**

 

Hello Quick Thinkers! 

 

From today, Wednesday 22nd April, we will be making a change to how we learn online at home. 

 

We will be using the National Academy from now on: 

 https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/schedule/# 

 

So, what you need to do is to go to the website, select Year 1, and follow each lesson from the beginning. 

For today, can you please start at Week 1, lesson 1. 

 

There are lots of different lessons for you to have a go at, all taught by a pre-recorded teacher. 

Alongside this, I will still be posting some extra activities for you (you're not getting rid of my that easily!). 

 

Can you all still making sure you're logging into Reading Eggs every day, please!

Our book focus is 'Rosie Revere, Engineer'. Watch the video, but only up to 3:33!

Your tasks are: 

 

1) Can you predict what happens next in the story? Write your prediction down in your activity books. 

2) Can you design and write about your own flying machine? What materials would you use?

3) Tell us what you want to be when you grow up and why! 

 

These tasks will be needed for our Zoom lesson on Thursday.

Maths 

 

Can you remember all of your 2D and 3D shapes? 

 

Answer the questions below by drawing and labelling the shape:

 

1) What 2D shape has 3 sides and 3 corners?

 

2) What is a 6 sided shape called? 

 

3) Can you draw a cube?

 

4) What two 2D shapes have 4 sides and 4 corners? Draw and label them both. 

 

5) Which 3D shape would be best used to make a ball?

4) How do you think the animals felt when they first saw the monster?

 

5) Would you go into the cave for tea with the monster? Why?

Come and See & Collective Worship 

 

This week's Collective Worship gives an opportunity for you and your family to talk, reflect and pray together on the theme of 'The Way Forward'. This may take 10-15mins and can be led by an adult or a child. There are weblinks included for suggested music to use but, feel free to choose your own if you would prefer, and a suggested activity for afterwards.  Top Tip: give each person a chance to pause and speak without interruption. God Bless and stay safe.

REMINDER!

Our P.E lessons are on a Monday. Please make sure your child has their P.E kit, or comes to school wearing their kit!

Our Topics this Autumn half term are:

 

English: Using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops, sentence structure, adjectives and recounts. We will be reading 'Funny Bones'. 

Maths: Count up and down in 1s and 2s, 1 more/1 less, number bonds to 10/20, addition & subtraction, 2D shapes.

Topic (History/Science/Art/Computing): Our bodies, animals including humans, differences between the past and present, sketching, algorithms. 

Come & See: Families, Belonging, Judaism, Waiting and Advent
