Art and Design at St Michael’s
Name of Lead: Ms Murray
The intent of our Art curriculum is to encourage pupils to be comfortable and confident to produce a vast array of Artwork in a positive and caring environment that allows them to celebrate their differences and reach their full potential. At St Michael's we are committed to providing pupils with a curriculum that will engage, inspire and challenge, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own unique works of art. We will continue to enrich their learning with a wealth of vocabulary that allows them to express their responses to artwork and ideas. Through introducing pupils to a variety of artists, pupils learn to know and understand more about art itself and the artists that create it. Therefore encouraging pupils to use this knowledge to think critically to develop a deeper understanding of Art and Design.
